1. - Brief description of project
The project includes the construction, implementation and operation of the Museum of the Volcanoes, a name to realize the fundamental importance of volcanoes in shaping and shaped the landscape of our country and by extension of the various ways in which they have expressed the Chile's pre-Hispanic groups.
In the Volcano Museum will be exhibited in its 5 levels, items and materials that reflect the cultural and natural heritage wealth of our country. Thus the visitor to travel the circuit defined for the museum will be able to understand and visualize the fundamental changes that have occurred on our planet, but essentially those who have had effect in Chile and as expressed through pieces, objects and archaeological, paleontological, geological and anthropological.
An emphasis and a special place within the museum will Mapuche culture, closely linked to the historical development of the area where the museum is located. The sample of the material culture of this people has a section dedicated to the extraordinary jewelry in silver, which shows the remarkable level reached by this art among the Mapuche.
2. - There is a basic concept that determines the realization of this project to be mentioned?
The basic concept behind this project is that the objects and materials to be exhibited at the museum in addition to the descriptive and explanatory text and graphic materials that accompany a rapprochement concrete and direct the visitor to our cultural and natural heritage.
3. - What architectural features worth mentioning?
The museum in its formal aspect is to represent the universality and that is why your plant is in the shape of an ellipse. The presentation of pre-Hispanic peoples and cultures is presented in two levels separated by a hallway light translucent that brings the vision and breadth of the sample. Materiality is raised through the site using Ethnic volcanic stone, native wood, water and fire, facing the steel structures that give the modern, making spaces for large areas.
4. - What aspects should be mentioned museographic?
In regard to the archaeological collection should highlight the heritage quality of each of the 775 archaeological pieces to be exhibited in 196 booths of various sizes and correspond to the products of cultural activity of 13 pre-Hispanic peoples and cultures of our country, including the Mapuche culture. Added to this specially equipped space to display 100 pieces selected from the collection of Mapuche silver Victor Petermann.
5. - How is the assembly plan, so as to enhance these parts?
The assembly has been designed according to the characteristics that has to exhibit the archaeological collection. 6 There are 12 modules distributed on the first floor and 6 on the second floor with a total of 196 cubicles recessed windows way. In the 12 modules will be shown a total of 775 pieces representing 13 cultures and prehistoric peoples of our country.
